The Porsche Cayenne marked a major new direction for the sports-car maker when it debuted in 2002 as Porsche’s first SUV. It was created to bring the brand’s performance-focused character to a larger, more versatile vehicle, with room for passengers and luggage and the ability to handle a wider range of roads and conditions.

The Cayenne has continued to evolve through new generations, adding updated technology and a range of powertrains while holding on to its blend of everyday usefulness and spirited driving. Its success helped make the performance SUV a defining part of Porsche’s modern lineup.
